Shop Technician

Caron Engineering (CEI) is a small but vibrant growing company working in the global CNC machine industry. We develop and produce accessories that allow CNC machines to work smarter and more efficiently for some of the largest and most advanced companies in the world.

We are seeking a detailed-oriented full-time Shop Technician who would be responsible for all duties related to, but not limited to building customer orders (assembly, testing, logging, and inventory).


Roles and Responsibilities 

The responsibility of this role will include, but may not be limited to the following:

·         Assembly & Testing:

o   Working knowledge of all CEI products, hardware/software

o   Ability to follow written and verbal assembly instructions for all shop-assembled products

o   Ability to load any pertinent software and shop test all products where possible

o   Comfortable and confident with hand tools and power tools used for product assembly

·         Inventory – Responsible for keeping all inventory stock and special orders at a level to complete order requirements and notify Purchasing Agent of quantities needed and lead times by working with Service and Integrator Managers

·         Shipping and Inventory using the inventory and tracking application(s) to support:

o   Creating work orders from a sales order; serializing and logging parts

o   Packing products for physical shipping with all related documentation

o   Receiving CEI POs from vendors, logging them into CEI inventory

·         Adept at using Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook; basic mathematics

·         Comfortable with business software applications and their related databases

·         Keep management informed of all pertinent activities

·         General Shop Organization/Tidiness – tools and parts are stowed in the correct locations, minor facilities maintenance (trash, recycling, lights, snow removal)

·         Occasional supply transport at local vendors (Southern Maine & New Hampshire)

·         High school diploma or equivalent required

·         Solid working skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook)

·         Solid verbal, written, and teamwork skills

·         Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated and self-directed, plus have the ability to trouble-shoot and work closely with management

·         Attention to detail

·         Physical Requirement – able to lift a 70 pound package

·         Valid driver’s license

·         Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus


Salary & Benefits

·         Starting annual salary of $35,000 to $65,000 dependent on experience and education
