Prescott Metal Custom Sheet Metal

This position is responsible for all aspects of assembly, troubleshooting, development, installation, and service of Custom Assembly Automation.  Travel to customer locations to install and troubleshoot new machines. In addition, the Technician plays a critical role in the job documentation, quality, and eventually professionally representing EAM/Prescott in the field.

Essential Job Functions

  • Mechanical and electrical assembly.
    Understanding of mechanical and electrical blueprints.
    Documentation of changes with engineering and purchasing Bill of Materials (BOM’s).
    Automation setup, startup, troubleshoot, and debug.
    Assembly of mechanical components, bearings, pneumatic systems, etc.
    Installation of electrical sensors, Programmable Logic Controller, motor drives, vision systems, etc.
    Maintain accurate BOM changes for all jobs.
    Maintain accurate time logging for jobs
    Work closely with engineers to develop new automation systems.
    Analyze and record test results and prepare written testing documentation.
    Test performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as multi-meters and electronic controls testing equipment.

Installation and Service

  • Assist with Service and Spare parts sales.
    Assist with technical phone support.
    Machine setup and run up for customer approval process.
    Automation debug at customer facility
    Working closely with engineers to develop new automation systems.
    Customer training

Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical school/Associates Degree preferred.
    Strong electrical wiring and crimping skills, small to large wire gauge and cable assemblies. 
    Strong knowledge and experience operating power tools and hand tools. 
    Ability to read and interpret mechanical fabrication drawings, including tolerances.
    Ability to read and interpret production job orders and bills of materials.
    Experience with electrical control panels, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
    Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing, system, and tools.
    Experience managing inventory and company assets.
    Ability to design and build jibs and fixtures.
    Experience working with engineers on projects.                   
    Knowledge of pneumatic systems, components, and assemblies.
    Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
    Experience with basic ERP systems
    Ability to use and understand precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, squares, scales, etc.
    Ability to travel to customer locations to perform service and/or machine installations.
